The Housing is Infrastructure Act, is a piece of legislation that addresses the rising needs of Americans who are struggling to find accessible and affordable housing or maintain ownership of their current homes as costs rise across the nation.
The Housing is Infrastructure Act will inject 600 billion dollars into accessible and affordable housing projects across the country. People with disabilities often live below the poverty line making affordability a huge factor in finding housing. The bill will assist in creating new community affordable housing options so that persons with disabilities can remain in their communities. The bill also ensures that these new housing endeavors will be accessible to those with disabilities.
Finally, the bill allows for the creation of grant programs that can be used to help people with existing homes and older buildings make improvements to their dwellings and buildings to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations and other applicable standards so all people can access them.
